Jython is an implementation of the high-level, dynamic, object-oriented language Python written in 100% Pure Java, and seamlessly integrated with the Java platform. It thus allows you to run Python on any Java platform.

This is the first release candidate of the 2.5.3 version of Jython.

for detailed release notes.  The release was compiled on Ubuntu with JDK 6 and
requires JDK 5 to run.
