Macros README
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This version of the emulator will allow the recording of macros. There is
still no way to remove macros or assign them to function keys yet. This will
hopefully be done in the future. Unless someone wants to take a stab at it
themselves. I will be more than happy to put anybody elses code in that fixes
my mess.

This is an update and the following part is to be followed for recording macros.

Accessing, Recording and executing macros
=========================================

Right click on session screen pulls up a menu as follows:

followed the explanation above. When you place your cursor over the Macros
item a list of all available macros will appear.

The following is deprecated unless you want to set macros up by hand or delete
any previously setup macros.

So let's begin:

First; create a file called macros in your emulator working path. You can use
your favorite editor to do this but make sure you create it as a text file.

Second; define your macros:

The format of the macros file is as follows:

Macro key = Keys to send to the emulator
------------------------ ------------------------------------------
macro1.WRKACTJOB_BY_USER=wrkactjob[enter][nextword][nextword][pf16]

Where:

Macro Key -
            1) Starts with macro# where # is a sequential number of the macro.
            For example the previous would is macro1 the next macro2 the next
            macro3 .... You get the idea.

            You do not have to keep the sequence for example:
            macro10
            macro20
            macro30
            macro40

            2) The period '.' is required

            3) A description that will be displayed. ** NOTE ** this can not
               contain blanks.

Equals '=' - This indicates that the key is finished and the next will be
               the actual key(s)/commands of the macro.

Keys to send - This is the key strokes and command mnemonics to be sent to the
                host for processing.

            The following defines the command mnemonics that can be sent to the
            host.

               UP                   [up]

Example:
========
What we want to achieve here is is a macro that will show the jobs in the system
sorted by the user.

Lets take the following example and break it up into its parts.

macro1.WRKACTJOB_BY_USER=wrkactjob[enter][nextword][nextword][pf16]

macro1.WRKACTJOB_BY_USER=
   This is the macro# with sequential number of one (1) followed by the required
   period, description and equals sign terminating the key and macro description.

wrkactjob[enter][nextword][nextword][pf16]
   This is actually what will be sent to the cursor position on the screen.

   1) "wrkactjob" is the command to display the active jobs in the system

   2) [enter] will be sent to the host to process the wrkactjob command

   3) [nextword] will place the cursor on the next word of the display under
      the column Subsystem/Job

   4) [nextword] will place the cursor on the next word of the display so that
      at the end of this command mnemonic the cursor is sitting under the
      column User

      Type options, press Enter.
        2=Change   3=Hold   4=End   5=Work with   6=Release   7=Display message
        8=Work with spooled files   13=Disconnect ...

      Opt Subsystem/Job User Type CPU % Function Status
                          X

      Cursor should be here where X marks the spot.

   5) [pf16] will then be sent to the host to tell it to sort the active jobs
         by user.

After getting the popup menu you will see an option for macros if you have
followed the explanation above. When you place your cursor over the Macros

Clicking on one of the submenu items will activate and execute the macro.

That is all there is to it.

If you have any questions or suggestions please let me know.

** NOTE *** this is only a work around until I can get a record function to
interactively define the macros.

Enjoy!!!
