JDOM is a Java-oriented object model which models XML documents. It provides a Java-centric means of generating and manipulating XML documents. While JDOM interoperates well with existing standards such as the Simple API for XML (SAX) and the Document Object Model (DOM), it is not an abstraction layer or enhancement to those APIs. All Roads Lead to ROME. ROME is a set of Atom/RSS Java utilities that make it easy to work in Java with most syndication formats. Today it accepts all flavors of RSS (0.90, 0.91, 0.92, 0.93, 0.94, 1.0 and 2.0), Atom 0.3 and Atom 1.0 feeds. Rome includes a set of parsers and generators for the various flavors of feeds, as well as converters to convert from one format to another. The parsers can give you back Java objects that are either specific for the format you want to work with, or a generic normalized SyndFeed object that lets you work on with the data without bothering about the underlying format.

SableCC is an object-oriented framework that generates compilers (and interpreters) in the Java programming language. This framework is based on two fundamental design decisions. Firstly, the framework uses object-oriented techniques to automatically build a strictly-typed abstract syntax tree. Secondly, the framework generates tree-walker classes using an extended version of the visitor design pattern which enables the implementation of actions on the nodes of the abstract syntax tree using inheritance. These two design decisions lead to a tool that supports a shorter development cycle for constructing compilers.

Shades is an Object/Relational Mapping (ORM) framework that works in conjunction with JDBC APIs. Instead of relying on XML or annotations for configuration, Shades relies on an interface called ORMapping. This makes shades simple and flexible. Shades has no new transaction model nor Connection management which you must learn. You control the transactions, and the Connection that Shades uses, through plain JDBC interfaces. Shades is designed to work well with modern web development frameworks like Tapestry and Wicket.
