SitapurBiswan is a town and a municipal board in Sitapur district in the state of Uttar Pradesh, India.Biswan is located at 27°30′N 81°00′E / 27.5°N 81.0°E / 27.5; 81.0.[1] It has an average elevation of 133 metres (436 feet). Males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%. Biswan has an average literacy rate of 59%, lower than the national average of 59.5%; with male literacy of 65% and female literacy of 53%. 16% of the population is under 6 years of age.Biswan gets its name from a very famous temple of Lord Shiva, Vishwanath Mandir. Biswan is an old town with a rich history of its culture. In Biswan a very famous fair of Guljar Shah is hosted every year during winter. The fair is popular across the state of Uttar Pradesh. There is a very famous temple of Lord Shiva situated at the center of the town which is built of stones completely, named Patthar Sivala. Another of the temples of Lord Shiva, which is more than 200 years old, Doodhnath Mandir, is located in the area of Shankar Ganj. An "ancient well" with Doodhnath Mandir which is more than 200 yrs old The Seksaria Biswan Sugar Factory is one of the famous Sugar Mills around the zone.
