checker-qual-android contains annotations (type qualifiers) that a programmer writes to specify Java code for type-checking by the Checker Framework. The checker-qual-android artifact is identical to the checker-qual artifact, except that in checker-qual-android annotations have classfile retention. The default Android Gradle plugin retains types annotated with runtime annotations in the main dex, but strips out class-retention annotations.

As an example of a use-case for this type, consider the following code: * *

{@code
 * if (arr.length > 0) {
 *    int j = arr[arr.length - 1];

 * }
* * Without the knowing that {@code arr.length} is positive, the Index Checker cannot verify that * accessing the last element of the array is safe - there might not be a last element! * * @checker_framework.manual #index-checker Index Checker */ @Documented @Retention(RetentionPolicy.CLASS) @Target({ElementType.TYPE_USE, ElementType.TYPE_PARAMETER}) @SubtypeOf({NonNegative.class}) public @interface Positive {}
