Apache Commons Compress software defines an API for working with compression and archive formats. These include: bzip2, gzip, pack200, lzma, xz, Snappy, traditional Unix Compress, DEFLATE and ar, cpio, jar, tar, zip, dump, 7z, arj.

    Provides stream classes for compressing and decompressing
      streams using the GZip algorithm.

    The classes in this package are wrappers around {@link
      java.util.zip.GZIPInputStream java.util.zip.GZIPInputStream} and
      {@link java.util.zip.GZIPOutputStream
      java.util.zip.GZIPOutputStream}.
