Primary Navigation Secondary Navigation Search: US against partition of Kosovo: defence secretary Tue Oct 7, 7:59 AM ET PRISTINA (AFP) - The United States opposes any partition of Kosovo following its declaration of independence from Serbia , Defence Secretary Robert Gates said Tuesday on a landmark visit to Pristina. "I don't believe partition is a solution in Kosovo, now or at any time in the future," Gates told reporters, in a clear referrence to Serbian President Boris Tadic's statement last week that it could be the ultimate solution if other options to solve the status issue failed. "The United States supports the territorial integrity of Kosovo," said Gates, the most senior US official to visit Pristina since it declared independence from Serbia.
