This plug-in is needed if you have legacy maven 2 job type. Preferred way to use maven in Hudson is by using maven as a builder in your Free Style job, which is provided by Maven 3 plugin. Version 3.0.1 of this plugin requires Hudson Version 3.1.2 or later.

  For some repository URL (such as scpexe), Maven may require
  additional configuration (such as user name, executable path, etc.)

  Maven wants you to specify this in ~/.m2/settings.xml of
  the user that runs Hudson, and this ID value is used to retrieve
  the setting information from this file (that is, the <server>
  element with this ID value will be consulted for various
  protocol-specific configuration values.)
