This Content Negotiation Filter provides a content negotiation filter for Java EE servlet containers. The content negotiation algorithm is based on the Apache negotiation algorithm but lacks support for the encoding and character set. The variants can be configured through an XML file, negotiation.xml, in the WEB-INF/classes directory. This file can be overriden with the 'xmlInputFile' filter parameter. This XML file is parsed with the class 'com.mattunderscore.filter.contentnegotiation.variantsource.FilterVariantXMLSource'. This class can be overridden with the 'variantSource' filter parameter. The XML parser is implemented as a SAX parser. The SAX handler class can be overridden by the saxHandlerClass filter parameter. The 'variantSource' parameter can take any class that implements the 'com.mattunderscore.filter.contentnegotiation.variantsource.VariantSource'.

The ASN.1 subproject attempts to isolate the ASN.1 libraries and tools for encoding ASN.1 in BER/DER/CER/PER encodings. The LDAP and X.500 aspects of the directory project impose the need for ASN.1 and BER codecs. Kerberos requires DER. Rather than implement highly specific and britle code for these needs we decided to separate out the APIs and implementations used for dealing with ASN.1 codecs for any ASN.1 defined protocol.

The bit array data structure is implemented in Java as the BitSet class. Unfortunately, this fails to scale without compression. JavaEWAH is a word-aligned compressed variant of the Java bitset class. It uses a 64-bit run-length encoding (RLE) compression scheme. The goal of word-aligned compression is not to achieve the best compression, but rather to improve query processing time. Hence, we try to save CPU cycles, maybe at the expense of storage. However, the EWAH scheme we implemented is always more efficient storage-wise than an uncompressed bitmap (implemented in Java as the BitSet class). Unlike some alternatives, javaewah does not rely on a patented scheme.

The UnboundID LDAP SDK for Java is a fast, comprehensive, and easy-to-use Java API for communicating with LDAP directory servers and performing related tasks like reading and writing LDIF, encoding and decoding data using base64 and ASN.1 BER, and performing secure communication. This package contains the Minimal Edition of the LDAP SDK, which is a stripped-down version of the Standard Edition that includes full support for the LDAP protocol and LDIF parsing, but omits a number of optional elements, like many of the controls and extended operations, the LDAP persistence framework, and LDAP listener framework. The Minimal Edition is primarily intended for use in space-constrained and/or memory-constrained environments, like in Android apps or embedded systems.

The UnboundID LDAP SDK for Java is a fast, comprehensive, and easy-to-use Java API for communicating with LDAP directory servers and performing related tasks like reading and writing LDIF, encoding and decoding data using base64 and ASN.1 BER, and performing secure communication. This package contains the Commercial Edition of the LDAP SDK, which includes all of the general-purpose functionality contained in the Standard Edition, plus additional functionality specific to UnboundID/Ping Identity server products.

XBIS is an encoding format for XML documents that is fully convertible to and from text, with information set equivalence between the original document text and regenerated document text. It's intended for use in transmitting XML documents between application components, and is therefore designed for processing speed. The current Java language implementation offers several times the performance of SAX2 parsers working from text documents across a wide range of document types and sizes, and across JVMs tested, while also providing a substantial reduction in document size for most types of XML documents.

Spring LDAP is a Java library for simplifying LDAP operations, based on the pattern of Spring's JdbcTemplate. The framework relieves the user of common chores, such as looking up and closing contexts, looping through results, encoding/decoding values and filters, and more. The LdapTemplate class encapsulates all the plumbing work involved in traditional LDAP programming, such as creating a DirContext, looping through NamingEnumerations, handling exceptions and cleaning up resources. This leaves the programmer to handle the important stuff - where to find data (DNs and Filters) and what do do with it (map to and from domain objects, bind, modify, unbind, etc.), in the same way that JdbcTemplate relieves the programmer of all but the actual SQL and how the data maps to the domain model. In addition to this, Spring LDAP provides transaction support, a pooling library, exception translation from NamingExceptions to a mirrored unchecked Exception hierarchy, as well as several utilities for working with filters, LDAP paths and Attributes.
