In response to demands from project quality tool developers, Rat is available as a library suitable for inclusion in tools. This POM describes that library. Note that binary compatibility is not guaranteed between 0.x releases. Apache Rat is developed by the Apache Creadur project, a language and build agnostic home for software distribution comprehension and audit tools.

Asynchronous publish-subscribe communication library. Features: 1. Listeners are stored using WeakReferences to prevent memory leaks when they are not unsubscribed. 2. Uses fork-join framework for concurrent event delivery. 3. Publish methods returns collection of Futures that represent event notifications. 4. Supports ordered publishing: guaranteed to notify of the events in order they were published. 5. Provides EventSource and EventService interfaces for better integration with IOC containers and alternative implementations.

An low latency, lock free, primitive bounded blocking queue backed by an int[]. This class mimics the interface of {@linkplain java.util.concurrent.BlockingQueue BlockingQueue}, however works with primitive ints rather than objects, so is unable to actually implement the BlockingQueue. This class takes advantage of the Unsafe.putOrderedObject, which allows us to create non-blocking code with guaranteed writes. These writes will not be re-orderd by instruction reordering. Under the covers it uses the faster store-store barrier, rather than the the slower store-load barrier, which is used when doing a volatile write. One of the trade off with this improved performance is we are limited to a single producer, single consumer.
