The Java JDK includes various means of creating/consuming compressed files. What is missing is easy way of creating lazy streamed zip archive, in spirit of java.util.zip.DeflaterInputStream. This implementation relies on the fact that the PKZIP specification allows archiving data streams of sizes not known upfront. This implies that the archives produced will be readable only by tools aware of this trick. Notably, java.util.zip.ZipInputStream is OK with that, so we use it to test compatibility.

In some data processing tasks we need to use huge maps or sets that are bigger than available JVM heap space or they are loading too slow to standard Java or Scala Maps. We use TSV format (text file with tab separated columns) for persist this kind of Maps or Sets. Some columns are used as a key and rest of columns as a value. Idea of this library is simple. We can prepare these maps once (sort by key), store it to file and then use it as memory mapped file. Searching key in sorted file has log(n) complexity. If more processes uses the same memory mapped file, it exists in memory just once (on Linux). This file can be loaded lazy by OS.

Lazy Bayesian Rules Classifier. The naive Bayesian classifier provides a simple and effective approach to classifier learning, but its attribute independence assumption is often violated in the real world. Lazy Bayesian Rules selectively relaxes the independence assumption, achieving lower error rates over a range of learning tasks. LBR defers processing to classification time, making it a highly efficient and accurate classification algorithm when small numbers of objects are to be classified.
